The number of people on trolleys at Cavan General Hospital today (Tuesday) is twenty three.

The figure has increased by ten people since yesterday, when there was thirteen people waiting on trolleys.

The figures were reported this morning by nurses as part of the daily trolley watch count from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

Nationally there are 641 admitted patients waiting for beds, which is an increase of 28 people on yesterday. This morning there are 452 patients waiting in emergency departments and 189 in wards elsewhere in hospitals across Ireland.

University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital has the highest number of patients waiting on trolleys in the country, with 82 patients waiting respectively.
