Appeal for witnesses after pedestrian's death

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Cloverhill late last night Saturday, January 18.

The incident occurred on the N54 at Plush at approximately 10:45pm when a car and pedestrian collided. The pedestrian, a male in his 40's was fatally injured. His body has since been removed to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The male driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s was uninjured.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 10:30pm and 11:00pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning and local diversions are in place.
