Cavan and Monaghan football legends to face off tomorrow in Currin fundraiser

There will be a unique occasion for local football followers tomorrow (Sunday) at Currin GFC, Scotshouse, Co Monaghan when two Cavan and Monaghan Legends selections face off in a fundraiser for the local club.

Currin are hosting a Strictly Come Dancing event next month and this one-off match, set to feature some of the great players from both counties from recent decades, will raise funds towards that.

The event has been organised by young footballer Killian Kearns, whose father Kieran is the club chairman.

The teams will be managed by Terry Hyland and Seamus 'Banty' McEnaney, with a number of big names stars confirmed including the likes of Cian Mackey, Martin Reilly, Conor Moynagh and Mark McKeever and, on the Farney side, local man Dick Clerkin, Paul Finlay, Drew Wylie, Fintan Kelly, Dessie Mone and Tommy and Damien Freeman.

Currin are the oldest GAA club in Monaghan and have been doing great work at underage and development levels; the club hope to raise around €150,000 from the Strictly event.

Throw-in at Currin GFC is 1.30pm tomorrow. Admission by donation and all proceeds will support the development of new facilities at Currin GFC
