Three arrested in connection with serious assault

Gardaí in Monaghan have arrested three people in connection with a serious assault in the town on Tuesday night, January 14.

A man in his 40s sustained "life-threatening injuries" in an attack in the Park Road area between 10-11pm.

The two men and one woman, all aged in their 20s, were arrested yesterday (Wednesday), January 15, and are all currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at garda stations in the county.

The victim received life-threatening injuries and was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. He has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where his condition was described as critical.

Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the Park Road area between 10pm and 11pm is asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
