On the trail with chef Neven in Portugal

Take a new year’s trip to Portugal with famed Cavan chef Neven Maguire in his third series of Neven’s Portuguese Food Trails.

This seven-part culinary adventure takes Neven from the verdant North to the sun-drenched South as he discovers more flavours, stories, and culinary traditions that make Portugal a food lover’s paradise.

Each episode of the series highlights a unique region.

In the second episode next week, Neven travels to Amares, Braga, and Barcelos in the north of Portugal, where he delves into the heart of rural Portuguese cooking. He tries a traditional, local dishes such as petiscos (tapas) and learns how to make an authentic Caldo Verde soup. He also delves into Portuguese and South American cuisine trying a raw sea bass ‘Tiradito’ dish.

Neven’s own recipe will be an Azores Beef Casserole. The Blacklion chef described Portugal as “a country of endless culinary wonders”.
