Cold day ahead with possible outbreaks of snow

Met Éireann have warned of significant accumulations of snow expected in some areas, leading to disruption.

A Status Yellow Snow/Ice warning remains in place for Cavan today until 5pm this evening (Sunday).

The warning is alos valid for counties Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Meath, Westmeath and Wexford.

Met Éireann have listed potential impacts as hazardous travelling conditions, poor visibility and travel disruption.

It will be a cold and blustery day with outbreaks of sleet and snow during the morning.

Significant accumulations of snow are expected in some areas leading to disruption.

The sleet and snow will gradually clear to the east during the late-morning and afternoon, lingering in some eastern parts until evening.

Highest temperatures generally ranging from 0 to 4 degrees with fresh and gusty northeasterly winds becoming northerly later.

Tonight is expected to be very cold and icy tonight with a widespread frost. Further scattered wintry showers are likely too.

Lowest temperatures ranging from -4 to zero degrees. Light to moderate northwest winds, remaining fresh in the east.
