Libraries close early as mark of respect

The late Marleen Kennedy worked as branch librarian in Bailieborough and Kingscourt.

Libraries across Cavan will close early today (Friday) as a mark of respect to “dear friend and colleague” Marleen Kennedy, a branch librarian in Bailieborough and Kingscourt, who sadly passed away just before Chirstmas.

Ms Kennedy (née Siewe) of Annafarney, Shercock, passed away peacefuly on December 21, 2024, surround by her family.

She is survived by her husband, Dermot, daughter Tara, family and friends.

A gathering to remember Marleen will take place later today January 3, between 3pm and 5pm, at Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium in Cavan Town (H12 RF78).

As a mark of respect all library branches in Cavan will close at an earlier time of 4pm.
