It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.
Standish (Stan) O'Grady
Highfield Park, Galway City, Galway / Ballyconnell, Cavan / Ballincollig, Cork
Formerly of Ballyconnell, Cavan and Ballincollig, Cork and retired from the OPW.
Stan died peacefully in the comfort of his home on New Years Day 2025 with his beloved wife Margaret and dearly loved family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Rose and Standish, and by his siblings Leo, Eamonn, Brian and Mary Agnes Scanlan.
A devoted husband and father of Karina, Ger Feeney, Barry and Stan. He will be greatly missed by his wife Margaret and children, sister
Eileen Mac Enri, daughters-in-law Pauline and Darina, son-in-law Paul and by his 15 grandchildren: Aurna, Aoife, Ailbhe, Aishlinn, Cathal, Cormac and Aoibheann, Emma, Laura and Stephen, Cian and Rachel, Téagan, Keelan and Ódhran, and great grandson Jack. Lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Carmel and Karina and by the extended O'Grady and Elliott families, lovely neighbours and friends.
Reposing at the O’Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91V1K8) on Monday, January 06, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 6.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Standish on arrival at St. Joseph's Church, Presentation Road (H91YA30) on Tuesday, January 07 at 11 a.m. Private Cremation to follow on Wednesday. House Private.

James (Jimmy) Conlon, Toughnane, Bohola, formerly of Latton, Co.Monaghan, peacefully at Mayo University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Angela, brother Michael J.and sister Alice. Sadly missed by his daughters Pauline Foy, Luton and Dympna Dunleavy, Balla and son Gerard, sons-in-law Mick and Paul, daughter in law Barbara, nine grandchildren, Jason, Shane, Kevin, Conor, Aaron, Shauna, Adam, Stephen and Ciara, sisters Eileen and Anne, sister-in laws, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at the Sheridan Memorial Community Centre (F12 VP28) on Saturday evening from 4.30pm to 6.30pm with removal to The Church of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, Bohola. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 11am followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bohola.

Fitzgerald (née Masterson) Anna, Duleek, Co. Meath and formerly of Foxfield, Raheny and Newbliss, Co. Monaghan. 1st January 2025. Peacefully, in the exceptional care of St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Drogheda. Predeceased by her daughter Catherine, grandson Christopher and son Thomas. Beloved wife of Michael. Very sadly missed by her loving husband, daughters Elaine and Annette, son-in-law Stephen, her adored grandchildren Pamela, Eamonn, Gary and their partners Josh and Ian, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing in Staffords Funeral Home, Golf Links Road, Portmarnock on Sunday, 5th January, from 2pm to 4pm. Removal to St. John the Evangelist Church, Kilbarrack on Monday morning for 11am Funeral Mass followed by burial in Balgriffin Cemetery.

The death has occurred of James (John) Gilmore, Birchington (Kent), UK and formerly Lanesboro, Longford / Glaslough, Monaghan. Formerly of Lanesboro, Longford and Monaghan. James died peacefully on the 6 December 2024 in Kent, England. He is predeceased by his partner Robin, parents John and Kathleen, his brother Enda (Andy), his sister Anne and his niece Laura. James will be forever remembered with love by his family ; brothers Brendan, Tony, Nicholas, Damian and Cosmas, sisters, Teresa, Colette, Lorraine and Caroline, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, dear friends and neighbours .
His nature was loving and giving,
His heart was made of gold,
And to us who truly loved him,
His memory will never grow old.

Funeral service to take place in Thanet Crematorium, Margate, Kent on Tuesday 7 January at 2pm.
