It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Sean Brady, Corlurgan, Cavan Town, Cavan

Sean Brady, Corlurgan, Cavan Town, Tuesday December 24th 2024, tragically following an accident. Predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Mary. Sean will be very sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his neighbours, his many good friends and all the people who came to know Sean as he travelled around home and Cavan Town in his car. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12C821), on Tuesday evening from 6pm until 7.30pm. Removal from the Mc Mahon Funeral Home on Wednesday morning to the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Following Mass the cortege will travel to St.Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry for committal prayers and burial in the family plot.

Sean Conaty, Gallonbawn, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Sean Conaty, Gallonbawn, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan and formerly Woodside, New York. Friday, December 27th (suddenly) at his home. Predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Dominick. Deeply regretted by his uncle Peter Farrelly, aunts-in-law Peggy Farrelly and Kathleen Conaty (USA), his cousins and relatives in Ireland and USA, friends and neighbours. Funeral Arrangements Later.

Dr Eamonn Hartmann, Drumconnick, Cavan

Dr. Eamonn Hartmann, Drumconnick, Cavan and formerly Galway City, Saturday December 28th 2024, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his sister Olivia, his brother Garry and his nephew Mark.

Beloved husband, best friend and Buddy for over 50 years of Maureen and adored father of Lynn and Jill. Eamonn will be very sadly missed by his wife and daughters, his cherished grandchildren Finn, Barra, Rian and Rhys, his sons in law Andrew and Noel, brother Ken, sister Carol, stepbrother Pierce, stepsisters Val and Joan, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, all his extended family, his former work colleauges in Drumalee Family Practice and his many, many friends.

Eamonn's Funeral Mass will take place on Monday morning at 11am in the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan and will be followed by a cremation in Lakeland's Crematorium. Mary (Molly) Royce (née Sorohan), Deerpark, Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mary (Molly) Royce, unexpectedly but peacefully, in the loving care of the dedicated staff at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Virginia.Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary Ann and her brothers Peter, Benny, and Patsy.

Deeply mourned by her heartbroken husband and best friend Paddy, her daughter Margaret McGurran (Mullingar), her sons Aidan and Gerard, son-in-law Kieran, daughter-in-law Barbara, Aidan’s partner Yvonne and her cherished granddaughters Anne and Lucy. Molly will also be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and her many close friends.

Reposing at O’Dwyer’s Funeral Home, Munterconnaught, on Sunday, December 29th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (A82 C2N6). Removal on Monday, December 30th, (via her residence in Deerpark) arriving at Mary Immaculate Church, Virginia, for Funeral Mass at 11a.m. followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

James (Jim) McEnroe, Kilnacor, Crosskeys, Cavan

James (Jim) McEnroe, Kilnacor, Crosskeys, Co. Cavan died Friday, 27th December 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of the late Bridie and a dear father to Bernadine, Catherine, Barry (Eimear) Paschal, Majella, Éamonn and Clare (Padraig). Sadly missed by his grandchildren James (Ffion), Daniel, Kevin, Liam, Maeve, Ailbhe, Niamh, Sarah, Áine, great grandchild Connie, and cousin Evelyn Mc Govern, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by his son in law Luke and daughter in law Cathy, his parents Bartle and Rose McEnroe, brothers Batty (Bartle) and Benny and sisters Elsie and Madge. Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12 RF78) on Saturday 28th December from 5:30-7:30pm. Funeral to arrive at St. Matthew’s Church, Crosskeys (H12 FX68) on Sunday 29th December 2024 for funeral mass at 2pm. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Family house private please. Joseph (Joe) Rochford Snr, Church Road, Kilnaleck, Cavan / Killenaule, Tipperary

Joseph (Joe) Rochford Snr., Church Road, Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan and formerly of Killenaule, Co. Tipperary died Friday, December 27th (peacefully) surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his son Joe, he will be forever loved and sadly missed by his wife Dympna, daughters Sue and Kathy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck on Sunday (29th) from 3pm to 4.30pm. Funeral Service on Monday (30th) at 11am in Lakeland's Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan followed by Cremation. House strictly private please.

Catherine Kelly, Leitrim Village, Leitrim / Monaghan

The death has occurred of Catherine Kelly, Leitrim Village (formerly Park Street, Monaghan) on Friday, 27th December 2024, peacefully after a short illness bravely borne, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Ellen and Tim Kelly and sister-in-law Karen.

Catherine will be forever loved and greatly missed by her heartbroken family - adored son Aaron and daughter-in-law Jessi, her sister, Josephine (Drumshanbo), her brothers, Tim (Dublin), Michael (Monaghan) and John (Monaghan), brother-in-law Terry, sister-in-law Anne, cherished nieces and nephews and extended family, a large circle of wonderful neighbours and friends.

Catherine will repose at her home on Sunday, 29th December, 2024 from 3pm to 6pm. Remains to arrive at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, on Monday, 30th December, for Cremation at 3pm. House private outside of reposing times please.

Robert (Bobby) Owen, Carrabarra Island, Smithborough, Monaghan, H18KX83

The death has occurred of Robert (Bobby) Owen, Carrabarra Island, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan. Bobby passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and the wonderful staff at Willowbridge Ward, Monaghan General Hospital, Friday 27th December 2024.

Predeceased by his parents Robert and Elizabeth and his loving sister Margaret. Much loved husband of Christina and cherished father of Paula (Henry Goddard, Glaslough), Frank (Lindsay, London), Steven (Veronica, USA) and Susan (Andy Worboys, Australia). Bobby will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, daughters, sons, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, adored grandchildren, Ben, James, Eoin, Turner, Erin and Noah, sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and by all who knew and loved Bobby.

Bobby will repose at his residence Carrabarra Island, Smithborough, H18KX83, Sunday 29th and Monday 30th from 5pm to 8pm. Bobby's Funeral procession will leave his residence at 10.30am on Tuesday, 31st December, to arrive at St Mary's Chapel, Magherarney, Smithborough for 11am Funeral Mass. John McAree, Nart, Smithborough, Monaghan

The death has occurred of John McAree, London and formally Nart, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan. Dearly beloved husband of Helen and dear father to Sean, Marion, and Paul. A treasured grandfather to his four grandchildren. A much loved brother to Gerard, Tony, Betty and Nicholas

John is predeceased by his parents Charles and Bridget, sisters Margaret and Monica, brothers James, Peter, Hugh, Eugene and Desmond. John’s Funeral Mass will take place in London on the 14th January, 2025. John’s remains will then travel to St Tierney’s Church, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh for burial, full details to follow.
