It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Hughie Carmicheal, Drumgoa, Killeshandra, Cavan

Hughie Carmicheal, Drumgoa, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan died Monday 23rd December 2024, peacefully in Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents, brother and sisters, survived by his nieces Margaret Curran, Killeshandra and Patricia McKeown (New York), nephews Patrick McKeown (New Zealand), John McKeown (Dublin), grand-nieces Sarah, Roisin and Blaithin, grand-nephew Gearoid and extended family.

Amy (Winifred) Stokes (née Reilly), Daisy Hill Manor, Ballyconnell, Cavan / Leitrim / Longford

Amy (Winifred) Stokes, aged 20, died December 2024 tragically, following a road accident. A loving wife, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law and friend,

Reposing in Lawlor’s Funeral Home Belturbert, Co Cavan on Friday 27th from 2.30pm untill 4.30pm with removal to Our lady of Lourdes Church Ballyconnell for prayers at 5pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday 28th at 11am. Following Mass, Amy will be laid to rest in Carrick-On-Shannon Cemetery.

Anna Rose Benjamin (née Brough), Carrickaleese, Teemore, Fermanagh / Cavan

Anna Rose Benjamin (née Brough), died suddenly in 23rd December 2024. Anna Rose will be sadly missed by her sons James & Alex, daughters in Law Kelly & Eva, her three adored Grandchildren Hannah, Harry & Ela as well as her brother Hugh, sister Margaret and all her nieces and nephews.

Reposing at Lawlor's funeral home, Erne Hill, Belturbet (H14R583) on Friday evening December 27th from from 6-7:30p.m. Remains will arrive at St. Mary's Church, Teemore on Saturday December 28th for Funeral Mass at 1 o'clock followed by cremation in Lakelands crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

Yvonne Toman (née Murphy), Springview, Wheaton Hall, Drogheda, Louth / Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Yvonne Toman (nee Murphy), Springview, Wheaton Hall, Drogheda and late of Lisnabantry, Virginia, Co.Cavan on the 26 December 2024, peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown.

Predeceased by her darling son Karl, her sister Anne and her parents Germaine and George. Much loved wife of Steve and much loved mother of Olga and Ralph. Sadly missed by her loving husband,her daughter and son, her son in law Derek, her adored grandchildren Elliot, Cameron and Sasha, her sister Germaine and brother Peter, sister in law, brother in law, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Friday evening from 5 o'clock until prayers at 7 o'clock. Removal on Saturday morning arriving to Mary Immaculate Church, Virginia for 11 o'clock Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Seán McConnon, Ballycartlan, Magheracloone, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Seán McConnon, Ballycartlan, Magheracloone, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Queens, New York, who passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, at Cavan General Hospital, 24th December 2024.

Pre-deceased by his parents Kathleen and Michael, and his brothers Jim, Patrick, and Micheál. Deeply regretted by his brothers Aidan, Gene, Cieran, and Martin, his sisters Anna and Brenda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Reposing at Kieran Bros. Funeral Home, Hall Street, Kingscourt, A82R2W3, on Friday, 27th December, from 4pm to 7pm. Removal from his home, on Saturday morning, 28th December, for Funeral Mass at 11am, in St. Peter and St. Paul Church, Lower Magheracloone, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Barry Mc Enroe, 6 Rooskey Vale, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Barry Mc Enroe, 6 Rooskey Vale, Monaghan and late of Rockcorry and Tullynarney Monaghan. Wednesday 25th December 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his daughter Charlotte and parents Dan and Bríd.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving daughters Leona, Glenda (Eoin), Laura (Daryl) and their mother Ann, grandchildren Charlotte,Cián,Éabha,Mia and Saoirse, brothers Donal and Seamus (Kay), sisters Maureen (Hugh),Ann (John), Carmel (Micheal), Gráinne (Noel), nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends.

Remains reposing at the residence of his daughter Glenda, 40 Latlorcon Glen, Monaghan, H18FF82 on Friday 27th December from 2pm until 8pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon to St. Marys Church, Rockcorry H18XF88, arriving for one o'clock Funeral Mass. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in Holy Trinity Cemetery H16XC82.

Brian Molloy, Edenmore Cross, Emyvale, Monaghan, H18 PE86

Brian Molloy, Edenmore Cross, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan, H18 PE86 and formally Manchester. Wednesday 25th December, Christmas Day, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Martin & Mary Molloy, brother Michael, brother in law Billy and sister in law Paula. Brian will be lovingly remembered by his family, his wife Bernie, brother Martin (Olive), sisters Susan & Theresa (Tony), nieces, nephews, brothers in law Brendan & Sean (Nuala), Alison (Canada), Darren & Donna-Marie, and Gang Gang Manc to Cuán & Croía

Brian’s remains will repose at his residence today from 6pm - 8pm and Friday from 3pm - 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday morning at 9.30am at St.Patricks Church, Clara, followed by private cremation at Lakeland’s Crematorium, Cavan.

John McAree, Nart, Smithborough, Monaghan

The death has occurred of John McAree, London and formally Nart, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan. Dearly beloved husband of Helen and dear father to Sean, Marion, and Paul. A treasured grandfather to his 4 grandchildren. A much loved brother to Gerard, Tony, Betty and Nicholas

John is predeceased by his parents Charles and Bridget, sisters Margaret and Monica, brothers James, Peter, Hugh, Eugene and Desmond. John’s Funeral Mass will take place in London on the 14th January, 2025. John’s remains will then travel to St Tierney’s Church, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh for burial, full details to follow.
