Kevin’s Vehicle Lights Tractor Run is set to bring festive cheer to the county town next month.

Vehicle run to light up Cavan Town

It’s all systems go as the team behind Kevin’s Vehicle Lights Tractor Run gears up for the lights parade today (Sunday), December 22. The event will illuminate Cavan Town in just a couple of weeks time as a convoy of cars, tractors and everything in between, decked in festive lights, will travel around raising some much needed funds for Vincent McGee, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, Cuan Cancer Services, Little Blue Heroes, and the Help Mags Find Relief fundraiser.

Starting from Cavan Equestrian Centre at 5pm, the convoy will make its way through Cavan Town. Throughout the day, a festive atmosphere will be created at the Market Square where santy will be on hand for a fun-filled family afternoon out. There, children can avail of face painting and pedal tractors, while entertainment and hot drinks will be served up for the adults.

This year’s annual event is made all the more special because it was renamed 'Kevin’s Christmas Lights' last year in memory of the late Kevin Smith, and based on its success, organisers decided to stick with the name this time round.

Kevin was one of the annual event’s organisers and greatest supporters.

The run will finish back at the Equestrian Centre where a bumper auction and raffle will take place. And just like last year, Kevin’s father has donated a handmade pony cart, which will be up for auction on the day, as will numerous other prizes and goodies.

Speaking to The Anglo-Celt, organiser Declan Smith said everyone is looking forward to the parade. “Last year was a phenomenal success, we had over 600 participants and we want to build on that this year,” he said, before adding that five very worthy causes are at the heart everything that's being done.

“We have had numerous donations and spot prices for the auction and local companies have really gotten behind us, we are delighted with that.”

Meanwhile, a big turnout is expected so it’s time to get set for what is guaranteed to be a great day out for all the family!
