Revised planning application lodged for Cavan General Hospital

The focus is on increasing bed numbers from 18 to 54.

The HSE has confirmed that a revised planning permission application has been made to Cavan County Council for a new extension at Cavan General Hospital.

The purpose of the extension is to increase inpatient bed numbers from 18 to 54. Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD, Deputy Brendan Smith told The Anglo-Celt this afternoon that the project was “major” and will include a new Emergency Department, Endoscopy Unit and three floors of in-patient bed accommodation.

He also added that “a second project” is currently underway at the hospital that will increase oncology services delivery. “These are very welcome developments and will enhance facilities at the Hospital considerably.

"The new modern accommodation will benefit patients from Co Cavan and Co Monaghan and will also facilitate staff in their delivery of healthcare,” Deputy Smith said.
