Mostly cloudy day with limited sunny breaks

It'll be mostly cloudy today with some patches of drizzle and mist and while fog will generally tend to lift, it'll persist in a few places, especially around hills. Sunny breaks will be limited, with these mostly in southern areas. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in a light northwesterly or variable breeze.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with patches of light rain or drizzle along with some mist and fog. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light variable breezes.

Mist and fog will mostly lift on Friday and while it'll remain mostly cloudy, there'll be some patchy light rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds, freshening in the northwest later.

Outbreaks of rain will move southeast across the country on Friday night and it will become dry with some clear spells in Ulster and Connacht later. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds, becoming northwesterly as the rain clears.

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the south and east at first on Saturday morning, clearing southeastwards and allowing for some sunny intervals for a time. Cloud will build again from the north, bringing some rain to the north and northwest. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees with light to moderate west to northwest winds.

Cloudy and wet on Saturday night with widespread rain. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees with light to moderate west to northwest winds.

Sunday is expected mainly cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the morning, gradually clearing southwards during the afternoon. Sunny spells and some showers will follow. Highest temperatures of 5 to 11 degrees, coldest in Ulster, with moderate west to northwest winds.

Cold under mainly clear skies on Sunday night, with a few showers in coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with light northwesterly winds.

Monday is set to be cold and mostly dry in the morning, but becoming cloudier with showers developing through the day. Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with light and variable winds.
