Fog to clear slowly but cloudy day ahead

Weather update from Met Éireann

Road users are being warned about hazardous driving conditions and poor visibility amid a status yellow fog warning. The weather warning will remain in place until 10am this morning in Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Leinster and Munster.

Expect widespread mist and fog.

Otherwise, conditions will be generally cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle over the next few days.Turning windy on Sunday. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Fog will clear through this morning and early afternoon, as it becomes increasingly cloudy from the north. Some drizzle, mist and hill fog, mainly in the north and parts of the west. Sunny spells further south.

Highest temperatures 9 to 13 degrees in light variable breezes.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with patches of mist and drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees in light northerly winds.

Tomorrow (Thursday) again will be mostly cloudy with a few spots of light rain and drizzle. Some limited brighter breaks also.

Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees in a light northerly or variable breeze.

Continuing cloudy overnight on Thursday with patchy light rain or drizzle.

Lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees, with winds falling light and variable allowing mist and fog to develop.

Friday will be cloudy for most with occasional rain and drizzle, turning persistent in the northwest in the late evening.

Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.

Remaining cloudy overnight on Friday with light rain gradually moving southeastwards. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, with light to moderate southwest to west winds.

Rain will clear southwards through the morning and afternoon on Saturday, with sunny spells and scattered showers developing from the northwest. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, with light to moderate westerly breezes.

Current indications suggest that will turn breezier on Sunday with sunny spells and scattered showers following widespread rain in the early hours of the morning. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, with fresh northwesterly winds developing.
