Sunday sport: Drogheda win FAI Cup final, Arsenal and Chelsea draw

Soccer

Drogheda United upset the odds to win the FAI Cup final.

They beat Derry City 2-0 with goals in either half from Andrew Quinn and Douglas James Taylor.

That win for Drogs is their first cup win since 2005 and sends them into Europe next season.

They now prepare for the League of Ireland Promotion Relegation playoff against Bray Wanderers next week.

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw away at London rivals Chelsea as their faltering Premier League form continued.

Pedro Neto's equaliser means Chelsea have third place in the table going into the international break.

The Gunners are now without a win in their last four top flight matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's time as interim manager of Manchester United came to an end with a 3-0 win against Leicester.

Ipswich beat Tottenham 2-1 for their first win of the season, while Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest 3-1.

GAA

Kilkenny have announced that Tommy Shefflin will take over as their new senior camogie manager.

Tommy was part of Brian Dowling's management team that won the All Ireland in 2020 and 2022.

He was also part of the Piltown side that captured a county title this season.

His name will now be sent forward for ratification at the next County Board meeting.

Rugby

Scotland suffered a 32-15 defeat to world champions South Africa in the Autumn Nations series.

The Springboks proved too strong at Murrayfield, running in four tries.

Finn Russell kicked five penalties for the hosts, who were unable to build on last weekend's convincing win over Fiji.

Wales were also beaten by Fiji 24-19 in Cardiff.

It is a tenth consecutive defeat for Warren Gatland's side.
