Ballyjamesduff singer to perform with Ramblers

Local singer-songwriter Ruby O'Kelly will perform with The Dublin City Ramblers at Vicar Street next month.

The 19-year-old is trained in classical and musical theatre singing, and rose to fame as a teenager after writing and composing her own original song called 'You Won't Stop Me', based on the topic of bullying.

She will perform with The Dublin City Ramblers, a band legendary on the Irish music scene having blazed a trail in folk music for over 50 years.

The concert takes place on November 10. Ruby wrote her second original song entitled 'The Final Time' and released it in October last year, reaching No 2 on the Irish Pop Charts on iTunes.

She has previously received high praise covering songs such as John Lennon's 'Imagine' and 'Broken Vow', originally performed and written by Lara Fabian.

Ruby has since gone on to sing at various concerts alongside many well-known artists, such as the Sea of Change Choir, Luke Thomas and the Swing Cats, Brian Kennedy, Cavan's own queen of country Kathy Durkin and Celine Byrne, who performed at the The Cathedral of Saint Patrick and Saint Felim in 2023 as part of the Drumlinia Music Festival.

Ruby says she is “completely overjoyed and excited” to be given this opportunity to share the stage with the Ramblers, adding that she “cannot wait” for the night.
