Care at Finnegan Funeral Directors

Finnegan Funeral Directors has a tradition of compassionate service across Co Cavan and indeed further afield for more than 80 years. The Finnegan family has been at the heart of the local community serving as funeral directors to different generations, and providing an ever-developing focus on care for the deceased and bereaved that continues to this day.

At Finnegan Funeral Directors, the needs of the local and wider community are met with professionalism, empathy and dignity.

Declan took over in 1988 from his uncle Joe, who first began undertaking in 1938. Since then Finnegan’s has grown to become one that is widely respected and acknowledged for the exceptional degree of service offered.

Finnegan Funeral Directors works diligently to provide a service that is not only professional but devoted to a true sense of service to the community.

The expert and award-winning team at Finnegan’s have been to the forefront of an evolving business, catering for the traditional funeral service to the needs of a changing and diverse society where bespoke requests are equally acknowledged and respected.

Funeral pre-planning

In line with its ongoing dedication to supporting families, Finnegan’s is pleased to announce a new partnership with My Farewell Wishes - a local, award-winning funeral planning provider based in Cavan. This collaboration enables families to access trusted, professional pre-planning services, offering peace of mind for their loved ones.

“We're delighted to work with My Farewell Wishes to offer pre-planning options that help families prepare in advance and alleviate the emotional and financial strain during challenging times,” says Declan.

Meanwhile, to introduce these pre-planning services, Lakelands Funeral Home will host an open door event on Sunday, December 1, from 2-4pm.

The local community is warmly invited to attend, to meet the team at Finnegan’s, and to discover the benefits of planning ahead.

Declan and his assistant manager, Bernard McPhillips, deal personally with all pre-planned arrangements and are available to discuss them by appointment at any time.

Tradition and diversity

Along with more traditional church-based funerals and burials, a growing number of people are considering other more personal type services for their loved one in a funeral home or crematorium. Finnegan’s find that some people welcome the chance to have that personal touch after their church service, finding it can also create a more intimate celebration for family and friends.

Finnegan Funeral Directors welcome ideas for your loved one's farewell, and the company’s funeral service co-ordinator will work with the bereaved to create something truly unique and memorable.

Support at a difficult time

The Finnegan’s understand that making farewell arrangements is not easy, but their team will work with you in a calm and thoughtful way to guide you through each step towards the funeral and beyond.

“We aim to take some of the stress out of what are already difficult days by doing what we can for you in arranging the funeral,” adds Declan.
