It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan, as reported on RIP.ie over the past few days.

Ann Gaffney, Legwee, Loughduff, Cavan / Castlebaldwin, Sligo

Ann Gaffney, Legwee, Loughduff, Co Cavan and Carrowkeel Lodge, Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo died Saturday 26th October peacefully.

Predeceased by her parents Anna-May and Mick. Sadly missed by her heartbroken sister Mary Smith, brother in law Owensie, uncle Hughie, nephew Donal (Charlene), nieces Annmarie (Mickey), Catherine (Christopher), and Siobhan (Richard), grand nieces and grand nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May she rest in peace. Reposing at Reillys Funeral Home, Kilcogy N39 W1D6 on Sunday evening from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday in St Joseph's Church, Loughduff (H12F968) at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in local cemetery.

Lyn O'Toole (née O'Brien), Cavan

Passed away peacefully on Friday October 25th surrounded by her loving immediate family in Cavan General Hospital following Chemotherapy.

Sadly missed by her husband Gerry; children Jessica, Katie, Jake and Karla; grandchildren Jasper Freya and Phoebe. Mother Rita, Sister Darina, Brother Joey, her five little dogs and the many, many friends that loved her dearly.

Lyn's memorial service is on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 11:11 in Lakeland’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan. Because of the number of people that were close to Lyn we are asking for *only* friends and family of Lyn to attend to ensure everyone close to her can be there.

Lyn always said she didn’t want anyone to wear black. She would want everyone to wear bright colours and to have a celebration of her life.

Mervyn Michael Richard Stafford, 3 Sheelin View, Killyfassey, Mountnugent, Cavan / Ballinagh, Cavan

Mervyn Michael Richard Stafford, 3 Sheelin View, Killyfassey, Mountnugent and formerly of Derrin, Ballinagh and Birmingham. Friday, October 25th (peacefully) at Cavan General Hospital. Son of the late Victor & Elizabeth and brother of the late Thelma. Sadly missed by Margaret, his children; Richard, Felicity, Elizabeth and their brother & sisters Gareth, Lucy, Kylie and the late Emma, grandchildren, sister Hazel (Geddes) brother's Derek (Marguerite) and Roy (Marie), nephews, nieces, relatives, all his good friends and dog Mickey.

Resting at Briody's Funeral Home, Kilnaleck (A82 DX59), on Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Service on Monday at 2pm in St. Patrick's Church, Kildrumferton (A82 RX43). Burial afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard.

Ellen (Nellie) Smyth (née Sheridan), Carrickspringan, Moynalty, Meath / Cavan

The death has occurred of Ellen (Nellie) Smyth on October 25, 2024, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness.

Predeceased by her loving husband Bryan, her parents Katie and Anthony, brothers and sister, Ellen is the much loved mother of Libby, Ben, Kathy, Tony, Pat, Helen and Mary, sadly missed by daughters-in-law Bernie, Dawn and Emma, sons-in-law Pat, Larry, Brendan and Darren; grandchildren, Conor, Darragh, Katie, Ronan, Caoimhe, Bryan, Odhran, Anna, Patrick, Ellie, Leah, Aoishe, Danny, Will, Lucy and Tom; great grandchildren Tadhg, Sean and Siobhan, brother Willie and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. May Nellie Rest In Eternal Peace.

Reposing at her home 26th October from 2 - 7pm followed by Removal to the Church of the Assumption Moynalty arriving at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday 27th October at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Mary's Cemetery, Moynalty.

Ann O'Reilly (née Donohoe), 17 Keadue, Cavan Town, Cavan

Ann O'Reilly (nee Donohoe), 17 keadue, Cavan, Friday October 25th 2024, peacefully and with dignity at Cavan General Hospital, following a brief illness. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Pat Donohoe, Bridge St, Cavan.

Cherished mother of son Adrian and daughter in law Aisling. Ann will be very sadly missed by her adored grandchildren Eve and Liam, sister Monica (Canada), her neighbours and many wonderful friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12 C821) on Monday evening from 5pm until 7pm. Ann's Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the Cathedral of St Patrick and Felim, Cavan and a cremation will take place afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium at 1.30pm. Ita Moore (née O'Donoghue), Railway Road, Killeshandra, Cavan

The death has occurred of Ita Moore (nee O' Donoghue), 22nd August 2024, Sutton, Coldfield, Birmingham, England and formerly of Railway Road, Killeshandra, suddenly but peacefully, in her 88th year.

Predeceased by her loving husband Bill, her parents Edward and Susan, step-mother Sarah, sister Marie and brother Jim. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her brothers Eamonn and John, sister-in-law Pauline, nephew Gerald, niece Paula, grandnieces Olivia, Georgia and Gianna, cousins, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

Funeral Mass will take place on Monday 28th October at 12 noon in St. Brigid's Church, Killeshandra followed by burial of ashes in adjoining cemetery.

Margaret Keogh (née Smyth), Freehalman House, Longford / Cavan

Margaret, Freehalman House, Longford and formerly Dalveen House , Ballymachugh , Cavan. 25th October 2024, peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family. Pre-deceased by her parents and by her sisters Eilis (Dunboyne) and Annette (Cavan).

Margaret will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband James, son Michael, daughter-in-law Audrey, grandson Marcus, sister Kay (Enniskerry), brothers Donal (Ballymachugh), Seamus (Ballymachugh) and Brian (Tullamore), sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81), Longford on Saturday 26th October from 6.00pm concluding with prayers at 8.00pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday 28th October at 1.00pm in St.Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. Victor Bredin, Curratubber, Cavan

Victor Bredin, Curratubber, Cavan , Friday October 25th 2024, peacefully in the loving care of his family and the staff at Castlemanor Nursing Home, Cavan. Predeceased by his first wife Hilary , sister Martha and brothers Onslow, Bob, Charlie, Joe and Ben.

Victor will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his wife Anne, his children Fidelma (John), Theola (John), Astrid (Stanley), Darren (Anne) and Arlene (Vincent), his adored grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Billy (Dorothea), sister Winnie (George), nephews, nieces, cousins, all his extended family, good neighbours and many friends.

Resting at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan, today Saturday from 6pm until 9pm and again on Sunday from 12pm until 1.30pm. Travelling at 2pm to Ballyhaise Parish Church for Funeral Service at 2.30pm followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.
