Date set for Council Budget meeting
A date has been fixed for Cavan County Council's 2025 Budget meeting. This critical annual gathering is set to happen on Friday, November 29, at Cavan Courthouse.
Along with determining the Annual Rate on Valuation, elected members will be asked to make decisions on expenditure for the coming year based on the current financial health of the local authority. Each year the Minister for Local Government prescribes the period for holding these statutory meetings, and the budget must be adopted within 21 days of the first meeting.
The Department also decides the amount each council will receive in terms of a Local Government Fund grant.
The Budget for 2024 provided for total expenditure of €91,471,902 - an increase of €8,289,077 on the adopted figure for 2023. Included in that was €17,910,934 in commercial rates, a road grant allocation of €16,662,356; and a Local Property Tax intake of €12,385,685.
