Mixed weather conditions for the bank holiday weekend

Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the country this morning with more persistent rain affecting Leinster for a time. It will become drier and brighter in most areas through the afternoon as the cloud and rain clears northwards, although some showers will linger in the south. East to northeast winds will be mostly light to moderate but will be fresh at times in the south and west. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Tonight there will be clear spells and scattered showers in the south but it will be largely dry elsewhere. Patches of mist and fog will form in light to moderate easterly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, mildest in the southeast.

Scattered showers and occasional sunny spells for most areas tomorrow morning (Saturday) but it will become cloudy with rain in the west and northwest. The rain will move southeast across the country through the day, with sunny spells and just isolated showers following. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds becoming northwesterly after the rain clears.

Isolated showers in the north overnight on Saturday but otherwise dry with clear spells. Colder than recent nights with lows of 2 to 6 degrees, in light westerly or variable winds.

Rain in many areas on Sunday, then improving and becoming settled next week.

Cloud will increase on Sunday morning and outbreaks of rain will develop in the west. The rain will move east during the afternoon and evening and will be heaviest in the west and northwest. Parts of the southeast will stay dry until evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds developing.

Cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain on Sunday night. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Outbreaks of rain will gradually clear southeastwards during bank holiday Monday morning and it will be drier but rather cloudy for the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with light to moderate westerly winds.

Cloudy and mostly dry overnight on Monday with patches of drizzle, mist and fog. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees with light west to northwest or variable winds.

Tuesday is expected cloudy at first with patches of drizzle, mist and fog. Becoming brighter as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees with light and variable winds.
