Man remanded in custody following drug bust in Castleblayney

A man appeared at Cavan District Court today charged in connection with the discovery of over €200,000 worth of cannabis in Co Monaghan yesterday. He was remanded in custody to appear back at a court hearing on Saturday.

Nerijus Griksius (42), Corrygarry, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, appeared before Judge Raymond Finnegan charged with being in possession of €218,000 worth of cannabis at Corrygarry, Castleblayney on October 23, 2024. He was also further charged with intent to sell or supply the drugs on the same date.

The court heard the defendant was arrested yesterday in respect of the charges before the court.

During this morning’s sitting no application was made for bail and Judge Finnegan indicated that he will deal with jurisdiction on the matter during a district court sitting on Saturday, October 26.

All of the seized drugs will undergo further analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).

Investigations are ongoing.
