Bereavement notices for Cavan and Monaghan

It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan, as reported on RIP.ie over the past few days.

Mgr Canon John Maguire

Cardiff and late of Finaway, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan.

The death has occurred of Mgr. Canon John Maguire, formerly Parish Priest of St. Mary of the Angels, Canton, Cardiff,

Holy Family, Fairwater, Cardiff and St. Philip Evans, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff and late of Finaway, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, unexpectedly at his residence at Holy Family on October 3, 2024.

Predeceased by his parents Philip and Rose, his brother Bennie and his sister Bridie.

Fr. John will be sadly missed by his sister in law Anne, her family Gabriel, Martina, John, Anita, Brian, Patricia, Enda, Jacinta and Karl, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

After many years of priestly service Fr John will be sadly missed by Archbishop Mark O’ Toole, his life time friend Fr Pat O’ Gorman, fellow priests, parishioners, those he worked with and the many friends he made over the years.

May he Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory.

Cardiff:

Removal on Thursday evening 24th October to Holy Family Church, Fairwater arriving at 6.45pm for Mass with removal on Friday morning to St Mary of the Angels Church, Canton arriving for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass.

Reposing on Monday 28th October at the Maguire family home, Finaway (A82 TX47) from 12 midday until prayers at 4pm. Removal on Tuesday morning 29th October to St. Mary’s Church, Crosserlough arriving for 11 o’clock Requiem Mass followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

(née Clarke)

Portrane, Dublin / Bailieborough, Cavan

MOYNIHAN (née Clarke), Anita (The Brook, Portrane & formerly of Bailieborough, Co. Cavan) - October 21st, 2024 (peacefully) at Beechtree Nursing Home. Beloved wife of the late Paddy. Sadly missed by her loving son Michael, daughter Karen, daughter-in-law Bríd, son-in-law Ken, grandchildren Gavin, Hannah, Sarah, Alicia and Ella, sisters Maeve, Aileen, Kathleen, Joan and Rosaleen, brothers Francis, Malachy and Liam, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Michael's home (next door to The Brook) on Wednesday (Oct. 23rd) evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Removal on Thursday (Oct. 24th) morning to St. Patrick's Church, Donabate arriving for 10 a.m. Mass followed by funeral to Dardistown Crematorium. Kieran (Slaps) Smith, Drumbo, Cavan, Monday October 21st 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Pat and Rose Smith. Kieran will be very sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Cristabel, his son Thomas, daughters Wolder, Praise and kate, brothers Brian, Charlie and PJ, sisters Margaret and Breda, father in law Thomas, mother in law Rosemary, brothers in law Paddy, Barry, Jacob and Michael, sisters in law Christina, Catherine, Jane and Lilian, his nephews , nieces, all his relatives and many friends.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd., Cavan (H12 C821), on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm. Funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 12 Noon in the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan. Burial will take place afterwards in Cullies Cemetery. 2 Mullen Road, Emyvale, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Hannah McQuaid, 2 Mullen Road, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan. Tuesday 22nd October, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Mullinahinch Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Bridget Kate & Hamilton Sylvester, her husband Patrick, sisters Mary Browne, Chrissy O’Brien & Kitty Madden and brother John Joe Sylvester.

Hannah will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family; her sons James, Patrick (Angela), Stephen (Margarite) & Peter (Anita), daughters Elizabeth (Henry), Kathleen (Sean), Alice (Sean) & Theresa (Fabian), brother Anthony, sister Elizabeth, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Hannah’s remains will repose at her home on Wednesday from 3pm - 9pm and Thursday from 3pm - 9pm. Family time Friday morning please.

The death has occurred of John Hand, Drumbo, Coolderry, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Tuesday 22nd October 2024, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Moorehall Lodge, Ardee. Deeply regretted and sadly missed with love by his loving wife Mary, sons John and Jim, Jim’s fiancé Catherine, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relations and friends.

The death has occurred of Mona Keenan (nee Campbell), Dunmoe, Navan, Co. Meath, Proprietor Of The Round O Bar Navan. Formerly of Tullyhatna, Co. Monaghan. Peacefully at The Mater Private Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Tommy and beloved daughter Caroline. Joanne McLennan

(née Mohan)

The Village, Tydavnet, Monaghan

A Funeral Mass/Service gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, 25th October, Irish time, 8.30am GMT { 6pm} in Adelaide, Australia to remember the life of our beloved Joanne McLennan (nee Mohan) who passed away peacefully on 16th October after a short illness.

Pre-deceased by her father Eugene Mohan. Deeply mourned by her mother Brigid Mohan, husband Grant, daughters Cara, Sinead and Neave and their loving grandparents Jan and Brenton. Sisters Caroline and Carmel, brothers Cormac, Declan, Paul and Leo, cousins, nephews and nieces and the wider Mohan and McLennan families.

Joanne will be dearly missed by her family and wide circle of friends both in Ireland and Australia.

Never selfish, always kind,
