FASHION & LIFESTYLE: Beautiful, affordable clothing at Red Robin Boutique

If it’s a one-stop shop for affordable, beautiful clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery that you are looking for, then look no further than Red Robin Boutique in Ballinagh.

Established just last year by Philomena Connolly, Red Robin has become a big hit with the local ladies and, because of the “excellent” passing trade in the town, customers are from as far away as Donegal, Offaly and Cork.

Philiomena established the business in 2023 after realising a niche in the market for fashionable, good quality clothing that appealed to local women. It was also “something that I always wanted to do,” she adds.

Meanwhile, Red Robin’s stock mainly focuses on women aged forty plus but there are also choice picks available for younger looks. The store caters for sizes 8-24 and includes leisure wear, jackets, coats, dresses, shirts, trousers, jeans, tee-shirts, jumpers and lots more.

The lovely, modern, bright boutique is nestled in the heart of the Co Cavan town and exudes warmth and enticement.

“I have a bit of everything really,” says Philomena before adding that dress sales are a “big” part of the business.

“My dresses are mostly in the €50-€100 price range. There are also parking spaces available behind the building and that too is helpful.”

Red Robin is run and managed by Philomena but she does have one girl employed to help out on Saturdays. A new website is also in the pipeline and she is hopeful it will be up and running by the New Year.

This is further testament to the boutique’s success over the last 12 months and its expansion into a wider market. The store also hosts fashion and beauty talks, and workshops.

Later this month Philomena will hold a fashion show in aid of Cuan Cancer in the Farnham Estate.

Philomena, meanwhile, is “delighted” to have been shortlisted in The Anglo-Celt Business Awards final. “I got a shock when I received the email telling me that I had made it to the final,” she smiles.

“I’ve put a lot of hard work into getting to where I am with the business and I feel that getting shortlisted is recognition of that.”
