Éirevolt Energy’s unique selling point is very eye-catching: to help home owners and businesses transition entirely to renewable energy.
“We are going to someone’s home or business and seeing what their use is of fossil fuel is,” says Pauric McGearty.
“We are saying, okay, we can design a system here with infrared heating, with solar, and with our thermal hot water solutions - and remove you completely from using fossil fuels.”
Pauric is one of three directors at the helm of Éirevolt alongside Lee Cooney and Darragh McArdle. Éirevolt practice what they preach in their showroom and offices, which opened on Cavan’s Dublin Road 12 months ago.
The building has solar panels on its roof, infrared heating panels in the offices and 32kw of battery back up.
“The building is run 100% on renewables,” assures Pauric.
Infrared heat panels operates completely differently from conventional heating systems and Pauric describes their gentle heat as “just like the sun”.
“Their sleek design means they fit in really well in houses or apartments - we have panels where it looks like a picture frame. A family portrait for example can be a heater in a room.”
Survey
Éirevolt undertake an initial survey to assess the property and offer the home or business owner options.
“We can say: this is what it’s going to cost, this is the payback period and this is what you are going to save for the next 25 years.”
Pauric acknowledges that everyone “is trying to move in the right direction” with regards to sustainable energy usage, and concedes that not everyone can do it all at once.
“We can do it on a phased basis, or we can do the overall project.”
An ambitious company, they insist they can make a major contribution in retro fitting the nation’s social housing stock.
“The reason we are highlighting social housing is because it’s the one that requires urgent attention and we feel we have the perfect solution for it,” explains Pauric.
