BEST IN INNOVATION: McCabe Group - rebranding and growing
Managing Director of McCabe Group, Declan McCabe, outlined how the company has evolved to capitalise on new industries and bigger opportunities for the local construction company.
The business initially started off when Declan was aged 21 years, when he opened a business called McCabe Masonry, a stone masonry company based in Cavan in 2007.
In 2022, the business rebranded as McCabe Group, which opened the doors to “new markets rather than just pigeon holing” them to one area.
“It opened up more opportunities and more areas to grow and employ new staff,” Declan explained.
Over the past 16 years, the firm has “diversified” its business into a “multi-national service provider” and it has gone into different sectors within that including residential and commercial buildings, local authority work and also continuing its tradition of stone work.
“We expanded our services growing into new areas and successful projects across various sectors in the construction industry.
“We have expanded our management, our skillset, our workload into different areas like industrial manufacturing, commercial construction, hospitality, pharmaceutical fit outs, and your healthcare and tech sector,” said Declan.
McCabe Group prides itself on “bespoke” work loads.
“Positive culture and communication is and will be the core driver within our business. We nurture our client relationships and we also try to keep everything positive within our in-house workforce,” detailed Declan, describing how the company currently employs 150 staff locally and engages with a further 100 people on a subcontractual basis.
The group has recently “improved” its in-house team with regards to the broader skillset, employing new engineers, new contract managers and new project managers, which has “enhanced” development. McCabe Group has won three International Organisation for Standardisation awards.
“Growing up locally and trying to grow the business within a level that you can control while still trying to employ local staff is key to us.
“We always try to drive Cavan, drive our staff and yet still keep good communication across all levels of business,” Declan concluded.
