Tickets for TMVS musical production 'selling fast'

The cast and crew behind the eagerly anticipated Tullyvin Musical Society’s production of Oklahoma! are busily putting the final touches to their show before taking to the stage next week, October 15-19.

But as they do, tickets for their terrific five-night run at the Tullyvin Community Centre are either selling fast or with only limited availability left.

Now in their ninth year, the musical society have been working hard since early April to get their production of this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, considered one of the greatest musicals of all time, ready for the stage with Colm Shalvey and Scarlett McCormack reprising the roles of the romantic leads Curly the charismatic cowboy and Laurey the spirited farm girl.

Society stalwart Andrea Fitzpatrick takes on the role as the wise and watchful Aunt Eller while Brian Feerick as Andrew Cairns has a busy time keeping an eye on his vivacious daughter Ado Annie, played by Emily Smith, who is torn between the happy-go-lucky cowboy Will Parker (Conor Lynch) and the Persian Peddler Ali Hakim (Enda Gill).

Jud Fry, a dark and brooding character is portrayed by Ian Rountree.

Other roles include Jason Nulty as Ike, Donal Cooney as Cord Elam, Ben Lynch as Slim, and Thomas Halloran as Fred, Alanna Pepper as Gertie Cummings, with Aiveen Sexton and Eugene Hill playing the lead roles for the 'Dream Sequence'.

Donal Cooney, a member of the society committee says everyone involves is really looking forward to welcoming audiences.

“We're delighted,” he said, with the society having “upped the bar” with last year's production of Little Shop of Horrors.

Donal though is confident that this year the public will be even more impressed with the society “going high-tech” with stage manager Stephen Hannigan employing a LED screen backdrop to make it an even more immersive experience.

The show is directed by Paul Laycock and choreographer Jules McNamara. Musical direction is by Dave McGauran.

Oklahoma' runs nightly at 8pm from October 15-19. Tickets are €22 and available online at gr8events.ie or by contacting 087 2538 929.
