Mix of sunny spells and scattered showers today

A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers today, some heavy. Rain will develop in the southeast late in the evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in a light to moderate south to southeast wind.

Clear spells and isolated showers in most areas early tonight but there will be cloud and outbreaks of rain in the southeast. This rain will extend further to the north and west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees with light to moderate east to northeast winds.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain. The best of any sunny spells will be in the south. Some heavy showers are possible in the southeast later in the day. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees with light to moderate northerly winds.

Mostly cloudy overnight on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain, possibly heavy in the southeast. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with light to moderate northerly winds.

Quite cloudy on Wednesday morning, with outbreaks of rain mainly in the northwest and southeast. It will become drier and brighter as the day goes on with sunny spells developing in many areas. Highest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees with a light to moderate northerly breeze.

Wednesday night will see clear spells and scattered showers, mainly in the north and west. Some showers are possible near the east coast too, where it will be cloudier. It will be colder than recent nights, with lows of 3 to 7 degrees, in a light to moderate northwesterly wind.

Mostly dry on Thursday with sunny spells but a few showers will drift into the north and northwest on a light to moderate north to northwest breeze. Cool, with temperatures reaching between 8 and 12 degrees.

Mostly dry and clear again overnight on Thursday but cloud will increase in the north and northwest later, bringing some showers. Cold with temperatures dropping to between 1 and 6 degrees, in a light to moderate west to northwest breeze.

Friday is expected cloudy with scattered showers in the north and west but drier with sunny spells in other areas. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Outlook for the weekend: Continuing cool and showery on Saturday with occasional sunny spells, then turning cloudier with rain or showers on Sunday.
