Event to celebrate National Women’s Enterprise Day

Female entrepreneurs and aspiring businesswomen from across Cavan and Monaghan are being encouraged to ‘Make It Happen’ by registering for this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED), Thursday, October 17.

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) initiative, now in its 18th year, will feature events across the country, including a key event at the Errigal Country House Hotel, Cootehill, where an expected 150 women in business from Cavan and Monaghan will gather.

This collaborative event is hosted by the Cavan and Monaghan Local Enterprise Offices together with Cavan Women in Business Network and the Monaghan Women in Business Network.

The event will be officially launched by Minister Heather Humphreys, Deputy Leader of Fine Gael and Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development.

Notable guest speakers include Ailbhe & Izzy Keane, award-winning entrepreneurs and Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, as well as disability activists and founders of Izzy Wheels. They will share their inspiring entrepreneurial journey and offer practical advice on how to ‘Make It Happen’.

Larissa Feeney, founder of Kinore (formerly Accountants Online), will also present insights from her entrepreneurial experiences and provide actionable tips for business growth.

A dynamic panel discussion will feature, Emer McVeety, founder of Laochra Academy; NWED Ambassador for LEO Cavan, Aprilanna Barker, from Dinkins Bakery, NWED Ambassador for LEO Monaghan who will be joined for the discussion by Tara McGovern, business advisor, LEO Cavan and Siobhan Sherry, business advisor, LEO Monaghan.

The discussion will be facilitated by Jean Evans, the Networking Architect, offering local businesswomen the opportunity to share their stories, challenges, and successes.

The event will be hosted by Local Enterprise Offices – Cavan and Monaghan, with addresses from Conor Craven, Head of Enterprise, LEO Cavan, and Pamela Kerr, Head of Enterprise, LEO Monaghan.

Margaret McKeon-Boyle of Extensive PR will act as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The theme for this year’s NWED, “Making It Happen”, aims to inspire women to take the next step in their business journey—whether launching an idea, expanding their current business, or innovating for future growth.

Attendees will also learn about the array of supports available through Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) including financial assistance, training, mentoring, and consultancy, from start-up through to scaling for global markets.
