Breifne College celebrations postponed

Breifne College in Cavan Town has announced plans to postpone its planned 50th anniversary celebrations due to unprecedented demand.

The golden jubilee commemoration was due to take place on Friday, October 18, at the college campus.

Fondly called ‘the Tech’, Cavan Vocational School moved from Farnham Street to its present site in 1974 under then principal Ronan Rice. The name was changed to Breifne College in August 2006.

As part of the celebrations, a gala dinner was planned for fellow alumni, current students, parents, and staff.

However, a new date for the anniversary celebration has been set for Friday, March 28.

“The event has been postponed due to the unprecedented demand and need for a new venue. All tickets purchased for the original date will be honoured for the new date," said a spokesperson.
