Drizzle to clear with bright day ahead

Mostly dry and settled at first. Turning breezy for Friday and the weekend with rain and showers pushing in from the Atlantic at times. So says the latest bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

Any lingering rain or drizzle in the midlands and southeast will clear quickly this morning to leave a bright day with sunny spells. It will become mostly dry apart from the chance of an isolated light shower. Highest temperatures ranging from 13 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Largely dry on Tuesday night with mostly clear skies. However, some mist or fog patches may develop in the west and southwest. Lowest temperatures will generally range from 3 to 7 degrees but it will be milder near eastern coasts with lows of 8 to 11 degrees there in moderate northeast winds.

Wednesday looks set to be a largely dry and bright day with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. There is just the chance of one or two passing showers. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh east to northeast winds.

Dry and mostly clear on Wednesday night with just light southeasterly breezes. Lowest temperatures generally ranging from 4 to 8 degrees but milder on eastern and southern coasts.

Another predominantly dry day on Thursday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, there is the chance of a few showers in the south and southwest. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in freshening southeast winds. On Thursday night, patchy rain and drizzle will move in from the Atlantic to affect the south, west and northwest but it will hold mostly dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in fresh southerly winds.

It looks set to be mild and breezy on Friday with scattered falls of rain and drizzle. Rainfall amounts will be small and some parts of the east and northeast may hold dry. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in fresh and gusty southerly winds. Wet and windy on Friday night with outbreaks of rain and strong and gusty southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Humid and breezy on Saturday with showery outbreaks of rain spreading north over the country on a strong and gusty southerly breeze. There'll be some dry and sunny intervals also. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees. A mix of clear spells and showers on Saturday night. Turning a little cooler with overnight lows of 10 to 13 degrees.

It is expected to be a bright and breezy day on Sunday with a mix of sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.
