“This €250 million investment represents a 250% increase in funding compared with the previous 2020 round of funding, clearly demonstrating the priority Fianna Fáil places on encouraging and facilitating sporting participation and excellence," said Deputy Smyth.
“There is also a tremendous sense of community that comes from engagement with sports and their associated organisations. Ensuring that we have the right equipment in place and that adequate facilities are provided is key to supporting people of all abilities to get, and to stay, involved," she added.
Deputy Brendan Smith (FF) also welcomed the allocations and wished the various clubs the best of luck with their projects.
“I am delighted to have worked along with clubs across different sporting disciplines in progressing their applications. Great credit is due to the volunteers in every parish who work week in week out to ensure that people of all age groups can have access to good recreational and sporting facilities," said Deputy Smith.
Minister Heather Humphreys was equally delighted with the allocations for Cavan and Monaghan.
“This investment will assist our clubs in delivering a range of really worthwhile projects that will benefit people of all ages," she said.
Minister Humphreys also commended the clubs for securing the funding.
“These are clubs that are run by volunteers who give up so much of their spare time.
“I want to sincerely congratulation each and every one of the successful clubs and I look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition.”
