Shercock drama

A dreadful tragedy that claimed the lives of many children is the subject of Paddy Farrelly's short play ‘Thoughts From The Shore’.

The drama recounts the tragic drowning of 17 children from Cullies School and three adults during an ill-fated boat trip on Lough Sillan in Shercock in July 1878. It's reportedly the worst inland water disaster to have occurred in Ireland and yet, with the passage of time is largely forgotten.

Paddy Farrelly's play has been enhanced with live musicians to underscore the movement and dialogue, adding depth to the performance.

This moving piece is being presented to the wider public in Shercock's St. Patrick’s Hall for the first time. Show starts at 7pm, booking not required.
