Council look to restore flattened lighting

The council is working with ESB Networks with a view to restoring street lighting to a part of Belturbet town after a pole was flattened following a single vehicle road traffic collision just before the weekend.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the accident that occurred at approximately 11:15pm on Friday, September 13, at the Fairgreen.

The vehicle also hit an adjacent wall.

No injuries were reported, but the area has been blacked out since.Connections to residences in the area have not been affected.

A spokesperson for Cavan County Council confirmed that it has received a report of a road traffic collision with a lamppost in Belturbet town.

“The local authority is currently reviewing the situation in consultation with the power utility with a view to restoring the affected lighting as soon as possible.”
