Man to appear in court after €350k cannabis seizure

A man is to appear in court this morning in connection with the discovery of a growhouse containing 57 cannabis plants, along with 13 vacuum bags of dried cannabis herb, worth an estimated €350,000.

The discovery was made as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and distribution of drugs in the region by members of the Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit.

Gardaí arrested the man, aged in his 20's, and seized €350,000 of suspected illegal cannabis plants and herbal cannabis following the search of a residence in the Castleblayney area under warrant on Friday, September 13.

The drugs seized will now undergo further analysis with Forensic Science Ireland.

The man (20’s) arrested in connection with the investigation was detained at a Garda station in the Co. Monaghan area pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He is expected to appear before a special sitting of Monaghan District Court tomorrow morning, Saturday, September 14, at approximately 10.30am.

Investigations are ongoing, say gardaí.
