Man (20s) arrested after Cork city centre stabbing

Gardaí have arrested a man in relation to the stabbing that occurred at the junction of Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork city on Friday.

A man, aged in his late 30s, was attacked at the junction of Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street shortly after 5pm yesterday.

He was found at the scene with serious injuries when gardaí and emergency services responded to the assault.

He received medical treatment at the scene and was then transported to Cork University Hospital where his injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested this morning, and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in Cork city.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
