Mercury could hit 24 or 25 degrees over next few days

It appears there's a bit of an Indian summer on the way with temperatures of 24 and 25 degrees promised on Friday and Saturday.

Mostly dry today with sunny spells. The best of the sunshine will be across the west and north with cloudier periods and a few light showers possible in the east and south. There is a chance some rain may push into southeastern counties in the evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees with mostly moderate northeast winds, strong at times near eastern and southeastern coasts.

Mostly dry overnight with long clear spells. Mild and humid with lows of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.

Warm and humid tomorrow (Friday) with spells of sunshine occurring widely. However, by evening time, thundery rain may affect southern counties, especially coastal areas. Highs of 21 to 25 degrees in moderate northeasterly winds.

Mild again overnight on Friday, with the chance of thunderstorms across southern and eastern areas. Some fog in places too. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, in light northeast winds.

Sunny spells developing on Saturday after early low cloud, mist and fog clears through the morning and afternoon. Some showery rain may occur in parts of Leinster and Munster with the chance of thunderstorms, but overall there will be a good deal of dry weather. Highest temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees with light northeasterly variables.

Becoming mostly cloudy overnight on Saturday with isolated showers, possibly heavy at times. Mild again with lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, in light northerly breezes.

Mostly cloudy on Sunday with scattered showers feeding in from the north. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, warmest further south, with mostly moderate northwest breezes.

Current indications suggest Monday will be a generally dry with spells of sunshine at times, before rain arrives in the northwest later on.
