Largely dry week as high pressure dominates

Weather update from Met Éireann

Largely dry through the rest of the week with high pressure dominating. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

Sunny spells and scattered showers at first today, mainly for the western half of the country, but turning more widespread through the morning and afternoon, some heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. The showers will become more well scattered through this evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

A mix of cloud, clear spells and well scattered showers tonight mainly over the western half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Sunny spells and scattered showers developing through tomorrow morning with a few heavy ones possible. The showers will ease and become more isolated later in the afternoon with a largely dry and sunny evening following. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light to moderate southwest to west winds.

Largely dry and clear overnight on Thursday with just isolated showers, most likely for northern and western coasts. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light westerly or variable breezes.

Friday is expected largely dry with just isolated showers and good spells of sunshine, especially for the morning and evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in light variable breezes

Dry and mostly clear overnight on Friday. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light easterly or variable breezes.

Saturday is set to be another dry day with good spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in mostly light southeasterly breezes.

There is some uncertainty in the details for Sunday but current indications suggest that it will be a dry day for most with sunny spells. However, turning a bit cloudier in the south and west with the possibility of some rain developing. Highest temperatures generally ranging between 17 and 21 degrees in light to moderate southeasterly winds.

Further outlook: High pressure is likely to remain nearby so, while there may be some rain or showers at times, overall there will be a good deal of dry weather.
