Wins for Gaels and Stars, Ramor held to draw

Round-up

On a busy weekend of action in the club championships, there were wins for Cavan Gaels and Kingscourt in the Senior Championship.

The Stars had four points to spare against Killygarry last evening (Friday). A well-taken goal from Odhran Cunningham and a palmed effort from Sean Burke after great work from Jordan Morris were key as Kingscourt maintained their unbeatean run.

In Cornafean this evening, Cavan Gaels had a goal to spare against Ballinagh. Luke Molloy rattled the net in the first half of a fractious encounter and while Jack Tully had a penalty saved by Fionn Keating, the Gaels did enough to win by 1-10 to 0-10.

Mullahoran and Ramor United drew (1-6 to 0-9) with Knockbride stretching their unbeaten run to three games with a good win over Belturbet.

Elsewhere, a late point from Niall Clerkin saw Shercock grab a draw against Drumgoon in a low-scoring affair (1-6 to 0-9). Cuchulainns defeated Ballymachugh, Butlersbridge had nine points to spare over Drumlane and Kildallan got their first point when they drew with high-flying Kill Shamrocks.

Action continues tomorrow with a full programme of matches.
