Luso’s gets a pizza the action

Cavan’s newest restaurant, Luso Casual Dining, opened its doors back in March and has been going from strength to strength.

Owned and managed by Ciarán McMahon and Paula McQuillan, Luso’s started out in a food truck but is now part of a niche market that incorporates casual dining and high-quality food at affordable prices.

The couple's restaurant is centrally located in the town’s main thoroughfare right behind the Black Horse Inn and boasts its own entrance.

There’s plenty of car parking for diners and drop-ins are also welcome.

What really makes Luso’s unique is the high-quality food on offer in its atmospheric, casual dining setting. The restaurant’s pizzas and burgers are its main stay with the pizzas boasting a sourdough base that is truly delicious.

Ciarán says business began steadily and is now “getting better and better”. Much is down to word of mouth and the positive reviews from those who’ve already sampled the delicious food on offer.

“It’s something new for Cavan,” he continues. “We wanted to get our menu right and get everyone trained up before we really put ourselves out there and we are at that stage of development now.”

While Ciarán admits that trading conditions are difficult within the hospitality industry in the current climate, he believes Luso's has what it takes to provide delicious food in the right conditions and at the right price.

What’s On Offer

Luso’s offers authentic Neapolitan pizzas on a sourdough base. It’s a high-quality food created with the best of ingredients. The smash burgers have become synonymous with the restaurant in the short space of time since it opened.

Creative juices were certainly flowing in the creation of the menu. The smash burger is made from 100% good quality Irish meat and all mains come with delicious homemade sauces and dips to boot, what’s not to like?

Luso’s also boasts tasty sides including loaded fries and garlic bread as well, as offering customers a very nice selection of tasty craft beers. For those wishing to avail of a more extensive drinks menu, the team at Luso’s will provide that from the Black Horse Inn.

Management

Ciarán says while Cavan has a number of “very good” restaurants and takeaways, it was missing out on a casual dining offering. This, he adds, is what makes Luso’s special.

The restaurant caters for everyone - from staff parties and families, to those who wish to dine in a friendly, vibrant restaurant alone or people who want to catch up with friends and family.

“There’s something for everyone; this is a place where people can come together, eat nice food and have a chat. Staff parties are becoming more and more popular as well,” Ciarán concludes.
