Over 900 students in Cavan to get Leaving Cert results today

Some 852 students across the county are set to receive their Leaving Certificate results today (Friday), August 23; while a further 93, who undertook the Leaving Certificate Applied, are also due to get their results.

There are among 60,839 candidates nationwide results this year - 56,791 followed the Leaving Certificate (Established) programme and 4,048 (6.6%) candidates followed the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme.

The results will be issued through the Candidate Self Service Portal available at www.examinations.ie and to school authorities through the SEC's Schools Portal.

The results will be available online from 10am and in the schools from early morning.

In the case of the 2024 cohort, it is the first state examination for a significant majority of the cohort; the 75-80% of the cohort coming through from Transition Year were due to have sat the 2021 Junior Cycle examinations. The remainder of the 2024 cohort, who did not participate in Transition Year, were provided with Junior Cycle examinations in 2022.

As happened in 2022 and 2023, the SEC has implemented a post-marking adjustment to the results following the completion of all the of the Leaving marking Certificate examinations marking to ensure grades in the aggregate remain at the same level as in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The 2024 adjustment results in an average adjustment of 7.5%, while the average adjustment in 2023 was 7.9 % and in 2022 was 5.6%.

Applications to view exam scripts/papers only be made through the Candidate Self Service Portal between 5pm on Tuesday, August 27 and 8pm on Wednesday, August 28.

Applications to appeal can only be made through the Candidate Self Service Portal between 10am on Sunday, September 1 and 5pm on Monday, September 2. Appeal applications are subject to a fee of €40 per subject for Leaving Certificate Established and €15.50 in the case of Leaving Certificate Applied. The appeal fee will be refunded if an upgrade is awarded.

For 2024, the SEC can advise that the intended date for the issue of the results of the Leaving Certificate appeals is Friday 27 September. This is the first time since 2019 that the SEC has been able to announce a date for the appeal results at the time of issue of the results.

The Central Applications Office (CAO) has announced Round One offers will issue on Wednesday, August 28, at 2pm.

Round Two offers will follow on Monday, September 9, at 2pm.
