Wet start but clearing up this afternoon

Weather update from Met Éireann

Rather cloudy and wet this morning with overcast skies and outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain will gradually drift away to the east with some clear, drier and sunnier spells following. Southwesterly winds will turn westerly with highs of 17 to 21 degrees.

Largely dry this evening with long clear spells and a weakening westerly breeze. Lows of 8 to 11 degrees.

A mix of cloudy period and sunny spells tomorrow (Friday) and staying mostly dry too. A moderate westerly breeze will persist with highs of 17 to 20 degrees.

Perhaps a little cloudy overnight on Friday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle along western counties but staying mostly dry and rather clear further east. Westerly breezes and lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

Becoming cloudier through the morning on Saturday with scattered showers spreading across the country. Staying drier in the east and south for a time however. The showers will become confined to the west and north later. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees with westerly breezes.

Any showers will die out overnight on Saturday with mostly dry conditions. However it will remain a little cloudy. Westerly breezes persist with lows of 9 to 12 degrees.

Becoming unsettled again on Sunday with cloudy conditions and scattered showers throughout the country for a time in the morning and afternoon. However clear and dry spells will develop later in the evening. Highs of 18 to 21 degrees with westerly breezes.

Current models would indicate that the unsettled trend will continue into the start of next week with more rain or showers likely.
