Man in custody after takeaway 'gun' incident

Gardaí in Cavan have confirmed that they are investigating an incident in a takeaway in Cavan Town on Tuesday night.

A video has been circulated widely on social media apps since. It shows a man enter the takeaway and flash what appears to be a gun at the man behind the counter before leaving hastily.

The Celt understands that a raid on a house in the River Street area of Cavan Town yesterday morning, involving members of the Armed Support Unit, is linked to the investigation into the alleged incident.

A man was arrested and is in custody.

Gardaí are questioning the individual but may extend his time in custody before deciding whether to charge or release him.
