Largely dry day but cloudier this afternoon

Any mist and fog will clear to leave a largely dry morning with sunny spells and just isolated showers in Atlantic coastal counties. Gradually turning cloudier this afternoon with a few light showers in the west and the best of any sunshine in the east. Becoming overcast across the western half of the country by evening with patchy rain and drizzle spreading from the Atlantic. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light southwest winds, freshening through the day.

Overcast tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west and north at first, spreading southeastwards overnight and turning heavy in places. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh southwest winds.

TOMORROW - Thursday 15th August

A cloudy and damp start on Thursday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It will turn drier and brighter across the west and north in the afternoon but patchy rain and drizzle will linger for a time elsewhere. By evening, the drier and brighter weather will extend nationwide. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, veering northwesterly behind the rain.

National Outlook

Overview: Lots of dry weather overall but with a few showers.

Thursday night: It looks set to be dry overnight with long clear spells. There is just the small chance of rain edging into southern coastal areas for a short time overnight. Minimum temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light breezes.

Friday: Dry across much of the country on Friday with the best of the sunshine in the east and south. There'll just be a few light showers moving into western and northwestern regions at times. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in moderate westerly breezes. On Friday night, there will be a few showers in the west and north but it will be mainly dry elsewhere with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate southwest winds.

Saturday: A fair amount of cloud about on Saturday but with some sunny intervals also. It will be dry much of the time but there'll be a few light showers. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in moderate westerly breezes. Largely dry overnight with just a few isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light southwest winds.

Sunday: Little change on Sunday, it'll be a predominantly cloudy day but with some sunny spells. Whilst it will be dry most of the time, there'll be a few passing light showers moving eastwards across the country on a moderate westerly breeze. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, warmest in the south.
