Arti Shah will greet fans and taking part in a live talk.

Mini-con set for Kingscourt

Set phasers to stunned, get your geek on, and enjoy the fun at Cavan's first ever Mini-Con which touches town at Kingscourt Community Centre come August 11 at 11am.

Quickly becoming one of the top regional sci-fi conventions in the country, the Mini-Con brings with it unbelievable cosplayers, countless tables of comics, collectibles, Lego mini-figures, props, castings, hydro dipping, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, action figures, fantasy merchandise and much more.

Special guest Arti Shah will greet fans and taking part in a live talk about her experiences working on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (Rocket Raccoon), Star Wars Sequels (Maz Kanata), Rogue One (Power Droid), The Acolyte, and Harry Potter (Gringott Goblin). She will also speak about her most recent very important role in the new Paddington movie.

Arti is known in the movie world for her work in motion capture, stand-in and creature performance and is very excited to be invited to Ireland to talk about her wonderful career in blockbuster movies.

Artist guest Rutvig Vaid meanwhile is known for his artwork on Topps trading cards and will also be doing a live talk which may inspire local artists to pursue a similar career.

There will be plenty for artists too, with miniature painting taking place- a great new hobby and very therapeutic gateway into tabletop gaming- and for anyone with an interest in hydro dipping the event will welcome an expert adding colour flashes to everything from alloy wheels to car panels to clothing. Retro gamers will be delighted with the inclusion of Retro Ralph Gaming and ThinkNerd, and the day will be rounded off with an amazing cosplay competition that is open to everyone.

Mini-Con is an inclusive all ages event, and the emphasis is on fun and education.
