Cross Border event called off after fatal crash

A cross border vehicle run has been called off due to a serious road traffic collision.

The Summit Show and Run, which was due to pass through the Ballyconnell Festival, has been cancelled.

The crash occurred just north of the border on the Stragowna Road at Kinawley.

The PSNI say the road will remain closed until further notice as a result.

"Our thoughts are with all involved in this event and our deepest sympathy to the family involved," Ballyconnell Festival organisers said on social media.

The Summit Show and Run, a fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease, was due to start near Derrylin this morning.

It was due to leave Knockninny Marina before passing through Kinawley Village and Stragowna Cross, stopping at St Aidan's High School, moving onwards to through Ballyconnell Town and Ballinamore to Dernacreeve Cross, before heading back through Ballyconnell Festival to arrive at the Slieve Russell Hotel and back to Knockninny Marina.
