It is with regret that we note the following deaths from County Cavan and County Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.

Thomas Lyons

St Patrick's Terrace, Swellan, Cavan Town, Cavan

Thomas Lyons, St Patrick's Terrace, Swellan, Cavan Town. Tuesday, July 30th, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Mary and his brothers Liam and Michael. Sadly missed by his loving partner and best friend Patricia, brothers Paddy, Frank and Paschal, sisters Kathleen and Geraldine, aunt Joan, uncle John, brothers in law, John and Colin, sisters in law Kathryn, Breege and Monica, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, neighbours, relatives and many close friends.

Reposing on Saturday, the 3rd August, from 6pm to 8pm in Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan. Funeral Mass on Sunday, 4th August, at 2.30pm in the Cathedral of Ss Patrick and Felim, Cavan, followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

May he rest in peace.

P.J Patrick Joseph Kilkenny

Newtown, Ballinagh, Cavan

P.J (Patrick Joseph) Kilkenny, Newtown, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan. Thursday, August 1st, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife. Maureen, brothers Thomas, John, Br. Seamus, sisters Nora, Mary Rose and Theresa. Deeply regretted by his son Sean,(Yvonne), daughter Geraldine, his cherished grandchildren Pierce, Grace, Mary, Conor Oisín and Brian, sister Catherine, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Lakelands, Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan on Friday 2nd August, from 5.00pm until 7.00pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11.00 am, in St Felim's Church, Ballinagh, Interment afterwards in the new Cemetery.

Sr Alice Keenan

Sreenty, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Sr. Alice Keenan, whom passed away peacefully on Saturday 13th July. Alice was formerly of Sreenty, Shantonagh, Co. Monaghan and later of the Sisters of St. Louis, Los Angeles. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Alice, brothers Patsy and Tom and sisters Dettie and Josie. Alice will be forever loved and sadly missed by her sisters May, Rose and Ann, her extended family and the community of the Sisters of St. Louis.

Alice’s cremation took place in Los Angeles on Saturday 27th July. There will be a Memorial Mass for Alice in St. Michael’s Church, Corduff on Monday 5th August at 11am with interment of ashes afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
