It is with regret that we note the following deaths from County Cavan and County Monaghan over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie.

Margaret Olive Simmons

Killymullen House, Drung, Co. Cavan and formerly of The Rowans, Corcavity, Drung, Cavan

The death has occurred of Margaret Olive Simmons, retired teacher, Killymullen House, Drung, Co. Cavan and formerly of The Rowans, Corcavity, Drung, peacefully in the loving care of her cousin Douglas and Gretta Fannin, on Wednesday, 31st July 2024. Predeceased by her brothers Victor, Eric, twin brother Bobby and sister Evelyn. Sadly missed by her brother David and nephews Darren and Julian (Peterborough, England), nieces Jacqui Moore and Lorna Kenna (Florida U.S.A.) also niece Caroline Fannin (Scotland), cousins, neighbours and friends.

Resting at the home of Douglas and Gretta Fannin (Eircode H12Y421) on Thursday from 4.00pm until 8.00pm. House private at all other times please. Removal on Friday from Douglas and Gretta's home at 1.30pm to arrive at Drung Parish Church for funeral service at 2.00pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard. Family flowers only please, donations, if so desired, to Drung Parish Church care of Freddie Kettyle, undertaker or any family member.

Dunshaughlin, Meath / Cavan

Dunshaughlin and formerly of Drumgore, Co. Cavan. Peacefully at The Mater Hospital Dublin. Beloved son of the late Larry and Bridget O' Reilly. Sadly missed by his loving family ; son Lorcán, daughters Megan and Kelly, and their mother Rosanna, brothers Padraic, John and Fintan, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew, aunt and uncle, cousins, relatives and many friends and former colleagues. Reposing at Mcentaggarts Funeral Home Dunshaughlin on Thursday from 6pm until 9pm. Committal service on Friday at Dardistown Crematorium at 1pm.

Oakview Nursing Home, Belturbet, Cavan

The death has occurred of Gerry O’Reilly, Oakview nursing home, Belturbet and formerly of Oriel Lodge, Belturbet, and also Lisnamaine (Lanagans Well), Belturbet, Co. Cavan, 31st July 2024, peacefully at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Mary Kate and John, brothers Patrick, Edward and Kevin, sister Maura. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his brother Brendan (Clones) nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Gerry’s remains will be reposing at Lawlors Funeral Home, Ernehill, Belturbet (H14 R583) on Thursday evening at 6pm until evening prayers at 7.30pm. Remains will arrive at St Mary’s Church, Staghall, Belturbet Friday morning for 11 o’clock funeral mass with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Noel Mc Ginn

2 Carrickfern, Cavan Town, Cavan, H12 FH27 / Swanlinbar, Cavan

Formerly of Main Street, Swanlinbar, peacefully at James Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. Husband of the late Kathleen (Nee Mc Govern) brother of the late Donald and Margaret Rehill and uncle of the late Rosemary. Deeply regretted by his nephews Anthony and Micheál, niece Margaret and sister-in-law Rose, cousins, relatives and friends.

MAY NOEL'S GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE

Noel's remains will repose at his late residence Eircode H12 FH27 from 4pm until 8pm this Thursday and with removal on Friday at 9.30am to arrive Via Kinawley to Saint Mary's Church, Swanlinbar for 11am Mass of the Resurrection with burial afterwards in the family plot in Killaduff Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Esker Lodge Nursing Home, Cavan General Hospital and James Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for the wonderful care and attention that Noel received while in their care.

Pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Mary and his brothers Liam and Michael. Sadly missed by his loving partner and best friend Patricia, brothers Paddy, Frank and Paschal, sisters Kathleen and Geraldine, aunt Joan, uncle John, brothers in law, John and Colin, sisters in law Kathryn, Breege and Monica, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, neighbours, relatives and many close friends.

The death has occurred of Thomas (Tommy) Lynch, Cormaddyduff, Virginia, Co. Cavan, peacefully in the exceptional care of the staff of St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Virginia on the 31st July 2024. Predeceased by his brother Owen. Sadly missed by his sisters Mary (Preston, England), Kathleen (London), Peg (Margaret - Oldcastle), Sheila (Monaghan) and Dympna (Mullingar), his nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Thursday evening from 6 o'clock until prayers at 8 o'clock. Removal to St.Mary's Church, Castlerahan for Funeral Mass arriving at 11 o'clock on Friday morning followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Joseph (Joey) Finlay, Drumavaddy, Carrickaboy, Co. Cavan. Monday, July 29th, Much loved son of Declan and Patricia, cherished brother of Paddy (Regina), Karen (Philip) and John. Sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and many many friends.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12RF78), Thursday, 1st August, from 5.30pm until 8.30pm. Requiem Mass Friday, at 11am in St Matthew's Church, Drumavaddy (H12NY84), followed by interment in old cemetery.

Beloved sister of Mary, Mickey (Josie) and Bridget Cassidy (Myles R.I.P.). Predeceased by her sister Nora, brothers Jimmy, Vincent, Tommy, Terence and by her son-in-law Rob (R.I.P.)

Esther will repose at Swift & McCaffrey Funeral Home, Brookeborough Rd, Lisnaskea BT92 0LB, today (Wednesday) from 6pm until 9pm and again tomorrow (Thursday) from 2pm until 9pm with removal to her late residence in Drumhaw at 9pm. Removal from her late residence Friday morning at 9-30 am to arrive at Holy Cross Church, Lisnaskea for10 o'clock Funeral Mass. Family home private please at all times.

Esther will be sadly missed by her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large circle of family and friends.

Peacefully in the tender loving care of her family and the staff and management of Drumbear Lodge Nursing Home, Monaghan. Predeceased by her husband Paddy and her brothers and sisters.

Sadly missed by her loving son Martin, daughter in law Margaret, grandsons Patrick (Naomi), Eoghan (Katie), Philip and Cathal, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

The death has occurred of Catherine Kathleen (Kay) Breheny nee Treanor (Art), Long Island, New York and formerly Toneyfinnegan, Emyvale, Co.Monaghan. Saturday 27th July, peacefully at her home.

Predeceased by her husband Eugene, daughter Kathleen, parents Michael & Sarah Treanor (Art), and her sisters and brothers; Twins Sarah & Mary, Johnny, Annie, Eugene, Margaret (Maggie), Michael (Mickey), Eileen, Patrick, James Francis (Jimmy), Sheila, Elizabeth & Alice.

Kay will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Martin Michael & Patrick, grandchildren Danny & Tiffany, great grandchild Reggie, brother William (Bill) Treanor, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
