'Do Not Consume' notice on Annagh GWS remains

Alternative supply provided from a tanker.

A 'Do Not Consume Notice' remains in place to protect the health of all consumers of water supplied by the Annagh Group Water Supply Scheme.

The notice was issued on Tuesday by the Health Service Executive and Cavan County Council on Tuesday afternoon due to elevated levels of Nitrate detected in the supply.

The Annagh GWSS, is also known as the Kill Group Water Scheme is based in Butlersbridge and supplies the Redhills and Ballyhaise areas.

Both the HSE and the council warn that boiling water will not render it safe to drink.

An alternative supply is being provided from a tanker at Redhills Village and at Annagh Lake.

“Remember to boil this water from the tanker before use for drinking or for food preparation. Please pass this information to your neighbours and friends.”

Homes and businesses have been told it is still safe to use the water supply for flushing toilets, personal hygiene such as showering or bathing, laundry and washing utensils.
