Over 4k raised for Holy Family School minibus

Knockbride man Gregory O’Reilly cycled 30km last Saturday (July 27) raising over €4000 for a new accessible minibus for the Holy Family School in Cootehill.

The 82 year old cycled on his 1960s' Raleigh Bike on The Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway from Navan to Kingscourt on his and his wife Mary’s 61st wedding anniversary.

Having done fundraisers in the past, Gregory wanted to do something for The Holy Family School in Cootehill, where his grandson Shaun attends. He raised over €4000 between cash and online donations, which were still forthcoming at the time of going to print.

Shaun completed the final stint of the cycle alongside his grandfather. They were met by Mary, family and friends at the finish line.

Speaking to the Celt, Gregory said the school “ really need a minibus.”

“At least they’ll have it there at the school if they want to do something with it, they’ll have it.”
