Two men to appear in court in connection with €330K cannabis seizure

Two men arrested

Two men will appear before Cavan District Court this morning charged in connection with the seizure of over €330,000 of cannabis in Belturbet on Wednesday.

The men, both in their 30s, were arrested following a raid on a suspected growhouse in the Erneside town on July 17.

Some €44,000 worth of cannabis plants and €290,000 in cannabis herb were discovered at the property. The seized drugs were sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) to undego further analysis.

The two me arrested were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a garda station in the North Western region.

They have since been charged and will appear before a judge this morning when they will either be granted bail on the charges or remanded in custody to a later date.

Investigations are ongoing.
